Mill Valley Mountain Retreat

The clients of this serene $3.5 mm Mill Valley 3,600 SF residence overlooking Mt. Tam requested a Mountain Home design that was a convergence of Craftsman Style and Asian influences. The Master Bathroom was designed with picture windows to frame views of the majestic mountain within the context of spa-like interior environment. The custom alder millwork was designed with stressed horizontal lines to offset the verticality of the mountain. Open beamed cathedral ceilings were exposed throughout to create majestic spaces and mirror the design of the kitchen and great room areas. The color palette, in shades of evergreen and sky blue was introduced to balance warm and cool colorations inside, and connect with the colorations outside; with stone colorations derived from the landscape. The whirlpool-soaking tub was designed to offer a spa like retreat in the woods. The floors were installed with radiant heating below.
