Garden Estate Master Bedroom

The clients of this San Rafael Garden Estate desired a lofty Master Bedroom Suite that celebrated the gardens which surrounded the residence. The existing ceiling was removed, and replaced with Venetiano Bi-Colore, and a nine-step hand trowelled plaster process. The walls were customized with three shades of yellow to create a luxurious glass-like finish throughout. The custom floors were a finished white oak with custom ivory in-lays and a walnut border. The chandeliers and custom wall sconces were silver leafed to bring charm and grace to the space. The custom headboard was designed for reading in bed, and also featured an elegant herring-bone pattern to reflect on the design concept, “Le Papillon”. The silk Bergamo draperies were designed to coordinate with the custom bedding—a reversible ensemble for seasonal changes. Custom millwork was designed to embellish the walls and mirror the craftsman architecture throughout the rest of the residence. A painting by Walter Georis and Serina Boccino were carefully selected to celebrate the surrounding gardens and the character of the furnishings. A mix of antiques and custom modern pieces were integrated to create a space that was refined, comfortable and classic.
